Shannon Boettcher is a materials chemist whose group synthesizes and studies new semiconductors and semiconductor nano/micro architectures with the goal of designing stable and efficient materials systems for use in solar photovoltaic and water-splitting applications. He obtained his Ph.D. at UC Santa Barbara in Inorganic Chemistry with Galen Stucky in 2008 and worked as a postdoc on Si wire-array photovoltaics and hydrogen-producing photoelectrochemical cells at Caltech with Nate Lewis and Harry Atwater from 2008 to 2010.
